Role
The Strategy and Change Team is part of Strategy and Communities. We play a central role in shaping, forming and delivering change across the council, aligning the council to deliver.
You will play a lead role in specifying and delivering high profile and crosscutting projects across a range of different strategy functions as part of the Strategy and Communities department, working collaboratively with partners to help deliver wider council commitments. You will support complex organizational redesign projects, leading on and contributing to multi-disciplinary and multiple project teams to deliver organizational and cultural change across the council.
Key Responsibilities: • Manage strategy and change projects, leading multi-disciplinary project teams • Deliver specific elements, tasks and work-packages for larger strategy and change projects • Design, develop and lead projects to deliver responsive, cost effective solutions • Prepare and present reports with recommendations for senior managers • Establish and maintain effective working arrangements with stakeholders and partners • Write and manage communication and engagement plans • Create and implement project management systems, controls and procedures • Manage project budgets, ensuring projects remain within budget • Influence stakeholders and hold difficult conversations when necessary • Monitor project performance and escalate where necessary • Manage project boards including coordinating documentation and chairing meetings • Matrix management of project resources including consultants and third party suppliers
Requirements: • Relevant degree and/or professional qualification or equivalent work experience • Programme and project management training, preferably agile project management • Knowledge of current social, political and economic issues in local government • Experience in project management delivery in interdependent environments • Experience working in local government or similar large organisations • Strong communication, analysis, and presentation skills • Ability to influence, negotiate and deal with conflict professionally
